FAQ

Common questions

What is NotebookTools?

NotebookTools is a free Chrome extension that helps you import content into Google NotebookLM and manage notebooks from a dedicated app — bulk import, organization, duplicate cleanup, Drive refresh, Studio tools, podcast playback, and prompts.

Is NotebookTools free?

Yes. Every feature is free with no paywall, subscription, or premium tier.

How is this different from importing in NotebookLM directly?

NotebookLM’s built-in import is limited and slow for bulk work. NotebookTools adds a bulk queue, YouTube playlist import, link extraction, notebook folders, duplicate scanning, a podcast player, prompt library, and more — all from Chrome while you browse.

What does “refresh source” do?

For Google Drive sources (Docs, Slides, Sheets, PDFs), NotebookLM can detect when the original file changed. NotebookTools shows an Update available badge and lets you re-sync with one click.

How do I extract links from a page?

Right-click anywhere on a page and choose Extract links to Notebook. Links are pulled from the main article content, then opened in the Bulk tab for review before import.

Does NotebookTools collect my data?

No backend server stores your notebooks or sources. Imports go directly from your browser to NotebookLM using your session. See our privacy policy.
